The work

What exactly is a credit?
One credit is one unit of expert work — about an hour as the baseline. Work is sized four ways: a quick fix is 1, an update is 2, a new piece is 5, a build is 12, and anything that doesn't land cleanly on one of those goes through the calculator and comes back priced in credits anyway. You see the size before anything starts. Every plan includes credits each month; how many is on the pricing page.
How do I send work in?
However it comes out of your head. Email, a doc, a forwarded thread, a list you typed at midnight. The format doesn't matter — sorting it is our job, not yours.
How long does something take?
Most things ship within days. Response time is on the pricing table and runs from two business days up to same day, depending on the plan. Anything broken jumps the queue and costs nothing.
Do I have to know which team I need?
No. Six kinds of work sit on the bench — sales, marketing, leadership, money, ops and tech — and one list behind all of them. You describe the problem; we work out who does it. The promise is plain: give us the list of things you don't want to do. Ninety per cent of it we can do, or place with someone vetted — and when we can't, we'll tell you straight.
What's too big for credits?
Anything bigger than a Build — a new site, a rebrand, a migration, a real project. That becomes a fixed-scope quote or our 90-day program, and the conversation about it is free.
Can you write our bios, mission or brand story?
Yes. It starts with a sit-down conversation with us, then we deliver the finished writing. The rule that settles most grey area: placement is in, authorship is out — we publish what you supply, and when the words have to be written it starts with a conversation rather than a blank page sent to you.
Who actually does the work?
Us, for anything sized in credits. Independent specialists for the standing functions — bookkeeping, the newsletter, the outbound, video. They stay independent and own their delivery; we scope, brief and manage them, and you get one invoice and one point of contact.

The money

What happens to credits I don't use?
They expire at the end of the month. Credits are an allowance rather than a bank, which is what keeps the rate where it is — and it's why topping up in a heavy month and dropping a rung in a light one are both one email.
What if I have a slow month?
Then use us less. Nothing is charged without your OK, and no one calls to ask about your engagement. Move down a rung — all the way to Frac 1 if you like — and keep your membership. No minimum use and no guilt. If the work's not there, it doesn't offend us.
What if I need more mid-month?
Add credits at $39 each as a member, $49 without. We ask first, every time. Nothing is ever surprise-billed.
Do credits cover all six?
Credits cover the work we do ourselves — sales, marketing, leadership, ops and tech. Bookkeeping, the newsletter and the other standing functions are flat monthly instead, switched on and off by the month. One list and one invoice either way, and you always see which is which before anything starts.
What never costs a credit?
Anything broken or urgent, backups and patches, uptime watching, your monthly report, introductions, and us telling you something isn't worth doing.
Is there a contract?
No term, no minimum. Every plan changes or cancels any month.
How do I cancel?
One email, any month. No phone call and no retention script. Remaining work ships, and your site keeps running through the period you paid for.
Why not just hourly?
Because hourly makes you ration questions and makes us count minutes. A size you can see before the work starts is easier for both of us to argue with. The thing to price this against isn't an hourly rate anyway — it's the $3,000–$6,000 a month a fractional hire or an agency retainer would cost you for the same seat.
Are there minimums or a scoping process?
No. No scoping calls, no proposals, no $5K minimums. You say what's on your list, the calculator prices each item in credits, you pick the priorities, and the work gets done. That's the whole motion.

The relationship

What's the difference between the credit plans and Embedded?
On a credit plan you're buying output — you send the list, work comes back. On Embedded / Partner you're buying someone who knows the business well enough to tell you what to send. It's quoted as capacity — around 28 hours a week, roughly 120 credits at $33.32 each — rather than as a credit count, and it starts at $3,999 a month.
Do calls count against my plan?
On Embedded and Partner, never — calls, texts and questions are outside the count entirely. On the credit plans, a conversation about scope is free; a document that comes out of it is work.
Is Fracs only for women?
No. Fracs is for everyone — any founder, any gender. Tangram, our sister company, is the women-only one. The two are related and they are not the same thing, so we'd rather say which is which than let you guess.
I'm a Tangram member — what do I get?
Fracs member status, included with every Tangram membership: the monthly list session, access to the roster, and credits at the $39 member rate instead of $49. New members also get 2 onboarding credits a month for their first three months, then member rates from there. Past those it's the status and the rate rather than a block of free hours — tell us you're a Tangram member and we'll flag the account.
How do I get into Tangram?
You apply. Applications are open to any woman founder — there's no checkout button, and nobody is waiting to be tapped on the shoulder either. Each one is read, so admission is reviewed rather than automatic. It starts at tangrm.com.
Do you work with businesses outside Iowa?
Yes. We're in Des Moines and most of the work is remote. Being in the same time zone matters more than being in the same building.
Who owns the work?
You do — files, accounts, domains and code. If you leave, you leave with everything, and we'll spend an unbilled hour handing it over properly.
